Stuart Neilson (LinkedIn) points out the social hypocrisy that confronts people in their 50s & 60s:
Their state pension age is receding into the late 60s, while employers seem to regard them, too often, as too old to work.
Either we reverse the moves in pension age (lowering back towards the early 60s) or we move much more significantly to combat ageism in the labour market.
But we cannot in good faith as a society combine a high pension age & ageism!

@ChrisMayLA6@mastodon.me.uk yep the increases in pension age 'due to people living longer' clashes, which is a trailing indicator, against the leading indicator of quality of life decline (i.e. the ability to work longer) will cause problems.

@ChrisMayLA6@mastodon.me.uk is the state pension enough for people to retire over there? Here it's not, the US, and if you've stayed at home to raised kids you've lost years going into the social security.
