For the American left, in the 2028 presidential election, there is a straightforward answer to that question: AOC must run for president. If she doesn’t, she is leaving significant gains on the table. Not gains for her; gains for the movement, for the working class, for progress, and for the world.
If the Left really cared about the working class (they don’t), they’d let the working class choose their own leader (they won’t).
Now, to be fair, this is by no means exclusive to the Left. Neither liberals or conservatives are willing to give the working class any kind of real power or autonomy, either. No one is.

The Left is the only ones who want to, but you are right, we haven’t managed to do it yet. Mass mobilisation and highly consultative democracy at every level seems to be the way to go.
