I’ve almost gotten the fragmented compiled universe built out. so, there’s nothing saying that an application can’t buffer out space for more code, and then jump to that code, right? So… no VM. the repl is a hot universe of my compiler, and it will compile the session in fragments, append them to the world, and then jump to them; a new “generation” of the session. the bootstrap was really really cool to me. But at a certain point I might have stepped into the realm of smalltalk and other “this is what extreme purity of some form gets you” systems. And it’s only 15000 lines of itself and 1500 lines of C.
