i am very cross about the state of the internet and the motivations of the people ruining it. as someone with multiple diagnosed but untreated chronic illnesses, i've long relied on the internet to help me learn how to manage my health, what to look out for, how to get access to supplements that might help and find resources, etc. and i use it in a similar vein for kitten. we've just started him on a probiotic that's known to work wonders in cats (and humans!) with digestive and immune dysfunction, and i'd never have found out about it were it not for the internet. nor would i, as a lay person, have been able to read multiple journal article sand papers written by vets and scientists in multiple counties confirming its benefits, detailing dosages, etc. but all of that is disappearing. it's already nigh-on impossible to find anything useful about anything commonly searched for. trying to find info on gardening stuff usually results in multiple search engine pages of derivative, often AI-gen "content". and all for what? so some people can make some (more) profit and destroy something amazing in the process. 😡

@moonrabbit@sunny.garden me, aggressively banging a pot with a wooden spoon: hell yeah! bring back html without css and all that comes with! bring back free and open web! burn every AI to the ground!
