so hulu has a tv version of bret easton ellis's the shards. when i was actually reading on a regular basis, i did read a lot of the literary brat pack which consisted of ellis, jay mcinerney, jill eisenstadt, and tama janowitz. i REAALLYY liked bright lights, big city by mcinerney. apparently its minimalist but i found it very funny and entertaining, a thoroughly enjoyable reading experience. its written in second person so it was almost like reading a chose your own adventure book. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bright_Lights,_Big_City_(novel)
