I know everyone finds it annoying, to be chipper and upbeat about the things you can do (all of them unglamorous and the work of decades) but I am willing to annoy you.

Doomerisim offers a kind of absolution. This idea that you have no responsibility to the world around you, to the future, to anything, I'm sure it must be freeing. I have none of that kind of freedom on offer.
