Why is the solution to everything now "oh just go ask an LLM to do it for you" No, how about we document things, eh? How about we make code more easy to read, huh? how about we actually put some damn effort into shit?? Oh people didn't document their env vars, because they expect you to use docker? go ask an LLM to hallucinate some for you I guess.

@siblingsofthevoid@void.lgbt Any dev offering that as a legitimate solution to their software / code should have their computer access taken away. If the users have to turn to predictive text on crack to try and figure out details about your software, and it isn't something inherently eldritch knowledge like regex, you have failed. It's one thing for someone like me to, in desperation, turn to a chatbot to ask for a script to convert a bunch of folders with unicode fraction slashes in their names into the actual intended directory structure with real slashes. It's another to go "Oh, you want to know how X works? Go ask Claude"

@siblingsofthevoid@void.lgbt culturally my feeling is that "ask a LLM" is the successor to "copy the existing projects" which i heard a lot of in the switch homebrew scene "why are you trying to understand the implementation, just copy the syntax" with mystery variables i can't make sense of, and more moving parts than a car engine except this time around there's the environmental impact and centralization of power (i'd say erosion of thinking too, but copy-paste programming did it first)
