@neauoire@merveilles.town I'm about to move off-grid with very limited and intermittent internet access. I was wondering if you have any tips for dealing with Linux updates when you go back online? I am amazed at the binary size of everything in a linux distro these days. Every time I go online I'm 500 MB to 3 GB out of date, and I haven't even installed very much. 😒
Specific distro/package manager?
Just ignore it all?
Move to 9front?

@winduptoy@merveilles.town I lived in that sort of environment for a few years and yeah I just ignored it. When I was in town with a stable network I'd update if I remembered but I didn't stress too much @neauoire@merveilles.town

If you are offline, and you aren't running into any software crashes or bugs... there is no need to update ever. :) Don't feel like you have to keep the latest updates by being bullied by apt or security nerds. CC: @neauoire@merveilles.town @winduptoy@merveilles.town
