@hi_cial@donphan.social That’s the main reason why I haven’t actually watched the video yet. I don’t want to groan at all the ways the person can sound offensive out of sheer ignorance.

@erkhyan@yiff.life I mean I feel like that's your answer right there, even the best case scenario is going to be full of cringe aggressions from the micro to the macro. If they really wanted to highlight Malagasy culture and music they wouldn't frame a video that way at all

@erkhyan@yiff.life i. dont blame you. but i hope it crosses your dash down the line in the context of "wholesome cultural tourist reaction" in the future bc that would be the least offensive. if theyre just like oh i like that sound, oh thats a bop, oh this is some deep ennui energy here etc etc
