@akareilly@hachyderm.io Not really? I haven't felt more productive with an "upgraded" computer really since the 80s. Mostly everything just looks prettier, costs more for the privilege, but at least it feels more sluggish in exchange.

@ZDL@mstdn.social @akareilly@hachyderm.io eh... this did actually continue into the aughts at least. e.g. SSDs are much smaller, lighter, and *way* faster than hard disk drives, and i don't remember them becoming an option as the main storage for laptops until... 2007? 2008? something like this? like in 2004, everyone was definitely still worried about loss of data in the event that someone dropped their laptop.
