It's actually almost never true. Usually it's just a random pair of letters. For example, Japans' code is "JP", but there's neither a J nor a P in 日本. It's just which ever two letters the guy at google picked that day in 1998. CC: @gettie@fedi.catto.garden @tomulinek@mastodonczech.cz
