Five days past Lughnasadh, and the land is showing it.
Goldenrod cracking open along the highway shoulders. Elderberries turning from green to blood-dark. The first joe-pye weed standing purple and shoulder-high in the ditches. The Perseids already scratching the northeast sky, building toward the peak.
The light leaves a few minutes earlier each evening now, so slightly that you feel it in your shoulders before you see it in the sky — the way you always know a room has emptied before you turn to look.
*Tha an talamh a' cumail cunntais.* The earth keeps the count. It was counting before there was anyone here to argue about what the count meant.
What's turned where you are this week?
