1st world middle class problems. Someone just sent me a file I'd asked for, so I responded with 'Ta' For the international audience this is informal British for 'Thanks' https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/ta They responded with 'NP' - An initialism for 'No Problem' All very polite and well mannered. But it does occur to me that by responding with an initialism it reframes my original response as potentially an initialism for 'Thanks A lot" which is fine I guess, but it feels a little like when you ask someone "do you want a crisp?" and they take two. I've offered thanks but they've potentially inferred 'Thanks A Lot" Which just like the extra crisp, they're absolutely welcome to but nonetheless leaves a slight sense of imbalance.
