@crispius@mstdn.fname.ca “Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth”, is a law of propaganda often attributed to the Nazi Joseph Goebbels. " Yes! This is what I learned as a small child! I grew up hearing first hand accounts about my family's experiences fighting overseas during WWII, so I often read books on the topic . That's where I learned it's important to question politician's form of messaging

@TrueNorthSpice@mastodon.world @crispius@mstdn.fname.ca Yes, propaganda 101! Constant repetition of even the most incredible claims works. Even when it's over-the-top nonsense, people automatically start looking for ways of making it make sense within their constructed world view. My favourite is repetition via circular reference, which has become very common lately. Dick Cheney to USA Today: "Iraq has WMDs" USA Today article: "Dick Cheney says Iraq has WMDs" Dick Cheney to Newsweek: "USA Today backs me up, they published an article just yesterday stating Iraq has WMDs" By the way, the master of persuasive rhetoric is Zach de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine. His lyrics are chef's kiss propaganda - though used for good not evil.
