@Damselfly@blackqueer.life @gvwilson@mastodon.social This is what happens when someone who didn't have a career in software and/or hardware development writes a survey. Psychology is already full of loosey-goosey "junk science", statements without an absolute true/false value, unlike code, which either works or doesn't.

    @barbra@social.vivaldi.net I find the statement ‘Psychology is already full of loosey-goosey "junk science"’ both ignorant and offensive. As an anthropologist, I know that poor survey design is a problem anyone can suffer from, and it’s offensive to me that you would reject an entire field based on one survey. I think the survey suffers from fundamental flaws in its design. That doesn’t make the fundamental goal of the surgery any less valid. Certainly no than an application that was built with user interface flaws. Saying code “either works or it doesn’t” is far more ignorant and naive than a survey that limits demographic based on wording. @gvwilson@mastodon.social
