@undefined_variable@mementomori.social i think you could be right that we are so starved of connection that any connection becomes valuable and enjoyable even when the circumstances are not great. I've definitely experienced this due to spending imence amounts of time alone that sometimes any contact and communication is good. I have in recent years, having discovered this, made alot more effort in connecting with people for that social outlet, hence I'm on here

  • @eoinmorris@mastodon.ie There's definitely the connection aspect there, but additionally I think for me it's a feeling that "someone's in my corner", which I think gives a bit of an extra kick there too. I rarely have anyone there, in a practical way, emotional support gets one only so far, especially if one's emotions are on totally own their own scale... :meow_nervous2: But I do recognize that starvation. I don't connect with people easy, as oh so many people have found out (I'm sorry to those gotten dinged by that) but if I do connect, I can be a bit overwhelming, which is then confusing to people as when the connection deepens, I actually pull away and become more serious and restrained (aaaaand sorry to those who've been dinged by that).
