Well, well, well, who'd have thought. Palantir is avoiding UK taxes by accounting for its profits in the US (using transfer pricing & exploiting its US tex shelter) despite making significant profits in the UK, not least from its highly contentious public sector contracts. This is likely to (rightly) further increase pressure on Andy Burnham's Govt. to at the very least use the break clauses in Palantir's contract(s) to end them. #palantir #politics https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/aug/05/palantir-corporation-tax-uk-2024-accounting-practices

@ChrisMayLA6@mastodon.me.uk perhaps government contracts, especially with foreign companies, should work like PAYE, corporation tax deducted from payments and then they can account with HMRC at year end.

@ChrisMayLA6@mastodon.me.uk Here is California there is an effort by State legislators to end something called the "water's edge" loophole, which allows multinational corporations to avoid state taxes by pretending that their profits made here were actually made in some other country which offers tax havens for corps. I am not sure if Palantir has grabbed onto this loophole, but it wouldn't surprise me.
