It took my brain a month of rummaging around in the mental files, but I finally found whom I had cast as Judge Holden in Blood Meridian: Major Briggs (Don S. Davis), my favorite character from Twin Peaks. He's an exact fit for me, so clear while reading: look, tone, demeanor, pontifications. And yet it took me forever to place him. I'm thrilled. Now I'm going to walk around talking like that, pretending I'm the lonely devil out collecting paranormal artifacts. In fact it's not a big leap.

  • @Tarnport@mastodon.green I liked "The Mentalist's" JJ LaRoche (Pruitt Taylor Vince) for that role, but only initially. Later they softened the character, to my great disappointment. When introduced in the show, he was terrifying. He had this static menace about him. And was speaking in monotone. Although, Vince might be too short. However, I saw the show after reading the book, so I didn't see him during the reading. I had no real-life image. Major Briggs is an interesting pick, but he was too sympathetic for me. Too warm.
