I'm downloading a large game via Steam at the same time as I upload a large file to my NAS... and the download's going over eight times faster. (Via Ethernet, not wireless.) I can't tell if this is because my NAS is ancient, the drives in it are slow, or SMB is that lousy. I suppose I'll test from my Linux system later tonight. For now, though, it feels ridiculous that by time this 8 GB file transfers to another system on the same internal network, I'll have downloaded around 60 GB from outside.
