@mushroom_soup@poa.st They were flying at night. The military had stopped the test when issues were initially reported but when air traffic control reported that the plane had a visual fix on their destination they resumed, after which the plane crashed. The rest of the details are unknown.

Losing GPS in the IFR environment in uncontrolled airspace is no joke, especially in places where mountainous terrain is a factor like in NM. We're interested in learning more about the accident. Flying the Florida Panhandle isn't too bad when under IFR, but VFR is a bitch, since you're trying to avoid light GA & military traffic. That said, it's easy to communicate with the banner towing guys so you don't get mixed up with them.
