@filomel@musician.social Ordinary mirrors are just as fragile as ordinary window glass, but we use that everywhere, including greenhouses. Surely it could be something cheaper/stronger/simpler as we do not need quite optical properties and a perfect image reflected.

@krahabors@toot.lv @stevewfolds@mastodon.world @faab64@todon.eu I looked into it last night, and apparently there are horticultural reflective films that are used for this. Also, there are diffuse greenhouse coverings which scatter the light coming through, unlike normal glass. There is some overlap with indoor cannabis cultivation when it comes to maximizing greenhouse efficiency! It seems like scattered, diffuse light is what's desired. Now if only I had land, I'd definitely try to grow strawberries year-round. :)
