I'm reading a 2023 piece about a visit to the country by a professional troll. To avoid getting derailed into a discussion about the particular issue this troll uses as bait, I won't give details. But the piece argues - as did many at the time - that those who staged an aggressive counter-protest did a Good Thing(™️).
My argument is that they were morally right - I think the underlying position they were protesting for is unassailable - but strategically wrong. Why? Let's unpack this.
