@ErikJonker@mastodon.social @olivia@scholar.social I understand Europe is on fire at the moment. Canada is on fire. The United States is on fire. In fact, there are a lot of countries on planet Earth currently on fire. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ https://www.greenpeace.org/international/story/82486/ai-energy-environment-democracy/

@ErikJonker@mastodon.social @olivia@scholar.social I feel like if the argument is just "we should support them in it because they're going to do it anyway" then that's equally true of *everything* students do despite being asked not to, so by that logic universities should have supportive policies about how best to use essay mills to increase learning, and the most responsible forms of plagiarism. What makes AI special?

Asking "how to learn while getting AI to do the homework" is the same as asking "how to get stronger while sending someone else to the gym". It doesn't happen. If your kids spend a few years using AI to do their work they will come out of uni having learnt nothing. @ErikJonker@mastodon.social @olivia@scholar.social
