@Legit_Spaghetti society needs an immune system where people with pathological world views get quietly de-platformed before they win by burning out anyone conversing in good faith. A certain individual performing a taboo salute is a good example of what happens when you don’t have a force to just fiat remove people who talk a good game but are obviously testing boundaries. Now granted that you’re right and that gives a lot of power to the people who get to decide what is and isn’t crazy. But we seem to have culturally abdicated that role, allowing the crazy people to step in as the only ones willing to fill it.
