While my husband was in the hospital recently he watched lots of television. For some reason one of the few things he remembered from that experience was the commercials. When I would visit he would tell me about the Applebee's ads until I promised that when he was well enough I would help him fulfill his craving for some of the food that never, ever looks or tastes that good in real life. I think the visual contrast to hospital food was significant. He has been able to eat without negative consequences for a few days now so Summer and I said why not. I got orders from the deck builders and spent a small fortune on take out lunch for everyone. We bought everything from appetizers to fruit laden lemonade and desserts. It was a party. One small wish realized. He didn't eat everything but it was enough. Summer's pal was happy that I didn't forget. Today was a good day.
