Exactly, if he had made it public, perhaps even with a collaborative list, and with easy opt-in and out controls, it would have turned into a feature, rather than a mess. I mean, look at uBlock or adblock plus, both support filter lists and it has turned into a massive selling point. But he was too narrow minded to even consider that.
