Instagram served me up a video where an Italian man was roasting his American wife for "ruining" his Moka Pots. He showed of a collection of "ruined" Mokas. The latest addition was one that his wife washed with soap...
Which leads me to ask. Uhh, should I not be washing mine with soap?
Using "ruined" in quotes because they all looked perfectly fine except one that was missing a handle. #Coffee #MokaPot

@tsherrygeo@m.ai6yr.org They're fine I'm sure. But then, I wash my iron pots with soap when necessary. And I was doing it for decades by the time the hipsters turned cast iron into a farce.

@tsherrygeo@m.ai6yr.org I have no idea where this idea started but not washing your moka pot is disgusting and makes for bad tasting coffee. The oil from the beans builds up on the surfaces and the oil becomes rancid eventually, making your coffee taste the same way. Gross.
