> Gas Town fell apart at the seams with Opus 4.7. Up through 4.6 it was working brilliantly. With 4.7 we saw the introduction of the "just two more things" tic, which prevented Opus from ever converging on being ready to do real work—it always wanted to fiddle with Gas Town itself. The Opus tic never went away, so Gas Town effectively burned down. It had other problems, too, but 4.7 was the final straw. next model bro

@davidgerard@circumstances.run my favorite part of this is where he admits he spends $90,000 a month on tokens to work on a 30-year-old game (in fucking *bash* script) because he wants the AI to do it for him (which he has created 12 Google Max accounts to cheat the token bills for so that he pays less, I am sure Google will be happy about that) bitch I just program that shit myself. 100% free! you have totally lost the meaning of the word "passion project." this game isn't your hobby. you don't even know what's in the game anymore. LLMs are your hobby

@davidgerard@circumstances.run sorry, the future of programming is abusing a ToS loophole that lets you get tokens for 1/30th the price? That anthropic hasn't yet decided to consistently close but might at any time? I love to operate 12 months in the future

@davidgerard@circumstances.run I don't care how much money you have; your spouse is not going to let you spend almost ninety thousand dollars a month on your hobby game. I didn't even bother asking.this is an all time midlife crisis. record breaking levels of divorce precognition. i am suffering visions daily of this man on a date with an uncomfortable twenty-three year old asking her what her favourite model is. "Fable, can we excavate an ounce of rizz from all these Beads I'm holding?"

@davidgerard@circumstances.run it's incredible how this dude keeps boomerang'ing back into my view. I remember reading a few of his essays in the aughts and thinking some of them were okay, and then he made some obviously bad takes and disappeared for a decade, and then popped up again to yell about crypto future, and then disappeared for another decade, and here he is back again. It's so funny he's spending enough money out of pocket ($~3K) every month to hire a junior dev in the US he could mentor and grow into a senior, or probably a whole software team in less expensive countries. And he's doing it to make a ultima online clone? Anyway the way he is talking about his little virtual slaves is gross and what a clown. He finally got to do what he wants which is be a boss of a little fiefdom. Every section is its own little gift of bad ideas and privileged vision and delusion. Tl;DR I hope he finds his pepe silvia some day
