@telepyleia@infosec.exchange In the early ’80s, I was somewhat involved in science fiction fandom. In those days, a convention might book half the rooms in a hotel. So a typical elevator ride involved a mix of some cosplayers (though I don’t think the term existed) and what we called “the mundanes.” This was part of the fun of a convention: “freaking the mundanes.” (1/2)

Much fun was had by all (of us), but it was pure self-gratification. We were an in-group solidifying in-group ties. Which is fine, but only if you don’t care about the larger out-group. (2/2) @telepyleia@infosec.exchange
