and now there's a whole thing about "losing face" being taken super literally.
On the plus side, they do have a Japanese woman at the end who is played by an actual Japanese actor, although of course they have her playing up an accent. (The actor, Helen Funai, was born and raised in California.)

Ah, there's a punchline at the end where the made-up Japanese dish was actually a mispronunciation of something else, in a way that's actually kinda admitting "yeah this was a racist thing to do." It doesn't fix the issues by any means and in some ways the punchline is even worse than the thing it fixes. But anyway, yeah. Late-1960s mainstream pop culture. Tread carefully.
