I don't thing that's even what they're doing. I think they're just shamelessly excluding housing, food and energy... Or maybe they're doing some horrifyingly duplicitous thing like imagining that because everyone has a cell phone, that's equivalent to everyone owning a multi-million dollar mainframe in 1950.
