He didn't see the funny side when Private Eye pointed to one of his columns talking about his own sex life, and suggested that equally should be a sign from God that he shouldn't be having sex and it was "unnatural". If he was having to take drugs like Viagra.

Not a single outlet eulogising him has mentioned that he received a police caution for domestic assault, after he punched his girlfriend who was at that time 20 weeks pregnant. His misogyny was also blatant in the pages of the Spectator, who ran his piece on Harriet Harman as their cover feature in 2009. Where his commentary started with; "Would you? I mean after a few beers obviously, not while you were sober."
