with some light weekend kernel hacking, i was able to port OpenBSD's driver for Apple Silicon SPI keyboard/trackpad to Intel and get it working on my 2015 12" MacBook, making OpenBSD the first alternative OS i've been able to get the trifecta of ssd/keyboard/wifi working in (linux has drivers for everything but they don't work, freebsd has the keyboard driver, but no wifi, and nvme needs hacking)

looks like @jcs also did this a while back, but it hasn't been accepted yet: https://marc.info/?l=openbsd-tech&m=176365665219942&w=2 (edit: for the MacBook8,1 you'll also need this patch to add support for its version of the SPI controller chipset https://marc.info/?l=openbsd-tech&m=178118755792445&w=2)
