@danbrotherston@types.pl @BicycleDutch@mastodon.social I rarely take my bike on the train in the Netherlands. I use OV Fiets instead. In general, I don't think that bikes on trains is scalable; they take up too much space. They also consume elevator time that should be for people who need the elevator. I would rather see NS expand OV Fiets (add more bikes, electric bikes, bikes with kids' seats, etc.) rather than trying to make it easier to take personal bike on the train.

@notjustbikes@social.notjustbikes.com @danbrotherston@types.pl @BicycleDutch@mastodon.social As a tourist: If you don't live in the Netherlands, OV Fiets is a rather complicated option. And: Not available in all parts of the country (e.g. not in at least parts of Friesland).

  • @notjustbikes@social.notjustbikes.com @danbrotherston@types.pl @BicycleDutch@mastodon.social i would say it is still comicly efficient and scalable compared to cars but that is beating a dead horse at that point. but i guess if you are travelling espicaily on rush hours using bike renting apps like lime or keeping a bike in a bike park (like how you did in your how i commute video) would be more viable rather than trying to get into the train that is packed full with bicycle

@notjustbikes@social.notjustbikes.com I'd like to add OV Fiets availability to visitors to that list (without having to get OV cards with money locked in) @danbrotherston@types.pl @BicycleDutch@mastodon.social
