@d1@autistics.life hell yeah! I lost one router because I couldn't get WRT on it, so now I'm using an older linux machine with 2 nics while I work on acquiring another WRT compatible dedicated router. Also still have a working DVD ripper with a couple spindles of disks, and we are buckling down for the long haul. I'll turn off the net if I must, or just do mesh / ham shit.

  • @jbrownesq@mastodon.social @d1@autistics.life I'm using Linux PCs as routers. I was doing that back in the latter 1990s with dialup. Most folks would just connect their one PC to the Internet over dialup, but I set up a house LAN and used a Linux desktop to keep the dialup connected and do NAT routing. Had to pester my parents for a second phone line so I could do this. 😂 Thankfully this was the *latter* 1990s, so the dialup ISPs didn't care that I was on 24/7. Nowadays I'm doing the same thing, except with fiber.
