In 2001-09-11 3000 or so people died in the USA in an attack that sparked multiple wars of violent rage, directly killing at least half a million people and indirectly killing about 3.5 million more as the USA went collectively insane.

In 2020 a killer virus hit the USA, resulting in the end with a formal count of 1.23 million dead. The world excess mortality count of that pandemic wave was about 18 million. The USA has, thus, about 17% of the world's COVID-19 mortality. The USA only has about 4% of the world's population. Yet in the face of this literal megadeaths event, instead of fighting the virus, the USA, on the whole, whined about a few grams of paper over their faces. 🧵 ▶
