it is a tightly closed and rigid ecosystem by design. it's all about self-sustaining the ecosystem with no regard for how this affects employees, contractors, and writers.
what they don't realize is that this is also much like inbreeding. at some point, the breed/ecosystem gets left behind by some technological or societal shift they can't cope with.

@paul_ipv6@infosec.exchange @maccruiskeen@social.linux.pizza Some of us thought it would happen with self-publishing, but the big publishers adapted. It changed what many of them do, and it does give authors options, but the big corporations sailed through that particular disruption.
