@iFixit when I tried to repair my last pixel, it was significantly cheaper to upgrade to a newer generation than it was to buy a new screen. That does not seem to me like a commitment to repairability. Repairability means it needs to actually be economical to buy replacement parts, regardless if the part is technically made available. And the designs of Pixels are not exactly what I'd consider to be "repairable".
And not even to mention Google's abandonment of development and support for AOSP making it near-impossible for alternate FOSS android varients to get security updates, or their commitment to making future android versions hostile to sideloading apps! Ultimately repairability and the freedom to choose what software runs on your device are manifestations of the same issue; corporations like Google want to strip users of the right to properly own and control their own devices.
This "international repair day event" is nothing more than greenwashing. Corporations like Google *are* the problem, and it's incredibly disappointing to see ifixit help them launder their image.
