Between 620,000 and 700,000 died in the U. S. Civil war. About 500 of those were women soldiers in spite of the males only. Most women Civil War soldiers were not married. Some wanted to be with their boyfriends, others joined on their own to fight for the cause. Getting wounded or pregnant was a good way to get outed. When discovered and dismissed many women just joined another unit and continued the fight. #civilwar #ushistory
