@json@micro.sadlerjw.com Before the 90s, everybody knew that layoffs were the start of a corporate death spiral. But as automation was coming in and larger corporations had grown kind of bloated and bureaucratic and the economy was kind of tanking, corporations reluctantly laying off people found that the layoffs actually led to increased productivity. It hasn't really been true for most of the last 20ish years, but our corporate masters loved that lesson so much that they've clung to it ever since.
