@jaredwhite@indieweb.social @pat_dev@social.linux.pizza @codefloe@social.tchncs.de personally, I just don't see the niche for a "freemium" service that is "GitHub but on EU servers" as it feels like the worst of both worlds: You're neither a customer with the rights that such a relationship would entail, but neither do you have a right to decision making.
It just smells like the same infrastructure capture we've seen with literally every free service that's corpo-run.

@gedankenstuecke@scholar.social @pat_dev@social.linux.pizza @codefloe@social.tchncs.de well, to be fair…there are some codebases which are internal/private or closed source or for a client or whatever which I wouldn't expect I can host on Codeberg. Having a freemium/commercial service for such projects as an option is a valuable concept IMHO. I'm just finding it quite bizarre for the commercial service to be criticizing the communial one. They serve different needs in my mind. "why not both?" meme, etc.
