@enigmatico@mk.absturztau.be china is predominantly tablets and phones, so there is little need for computers. Everyday stuff is handled through wechat. As for india, computers are expensive products and people settle for older generations. Still, this is a big mobile market so people don't usually buy them outside of academic or work reasons.

  • Reporting: We bought my HP Pavilion 15 (2021) in 2022. I also helped upto three friends choose PCs this year, at least one considered a Macbook, with ML considerations, but not really LLMs. My own cousin bought his top-of-the-line desktop build last year. For Blender, possibly Unreal (there is a dislike for Unreal, but maybe it got picked up again...!) and new JRPGs. My IRL network therefore concludes that the LLM-runners are actually quite few...!
