@webidebi@mastodon.social My parents are mild mannered folk, but two of the people they reserve their worst words for are Capability Brown and Joseph Paxton, I think mainly for the ubiquity of their work.
I know Chatsworth well. It would be interesting to see something of the first Duke's pre-romantic scheme in evidence in a little corner of the place, just for curiosity and imagination's sake.

@chiffchaff@tech.lgbt I think its in the private bit of Chatsworth so it will be interesting to see what they do next. I can't imagine they'll want to give up that one bit of the grounds that they have to themselves but looking at that aerial photo it seems it might extend beyond the current lawn so who knows...if there's enough interest and possibly a tv show they might be persuaded to excavate and open up at least some small part of the edges of the old garden.
