Working in edtech for the last five years, me and my group worried a lot about students using LLMs to falsely pass the tests designed to to assess their progress. The question I asked, and it was never really answered very well, was this: Given that none of us actually believed test-passing was a very good assessment technique to begin with, what could we come up with that would be a better way to assess progress?
