As the story unfolds, we learn that Harold served under Cutter together with his friends Samuel, Isaac and Jerome. Cutter gave the treasure to Harold, Sam and Isaac so that they would hide and safekeep it. Harold didn't want to have anything to do with it, so he left it to Sam and Isaac.
However they didn't trust each other and in turn let Jerome in on the deal and made him hide it (yeah, I know...). We manage to find Samuel, who after some bribery with a bottle of rum hands us a parchment.

Isaac is working in the light house, and after a quick talk he gives us the second parchment, which has weird vertical lines. Oh well, I think this is going to reveal some information!
