i thought i'd look up what modern composite switch boxes look like, and they seem to be pretty much the same. i'm a bit surprised you don't need a power cable on modern ones (yeah, i know it's just passing through the connection, but i'd expect some unnecessary overengineering from modern tech because that's what the industry is now).
by the way, here's an image listed for one of them. that's not an NES, and i don't think anyone's jumping on one of these because of the sega saturn

@mjdxp@labyrinth.zone tbf the only reason it'd need power is amplification or noise reduction, both of which are pretty useful if your cables are on the lo ger side.
