@CarstenBoll@mstdn.dk The context for Count Binface has turned serious now, because of Farage's stunt and the need to challenge the right-wing, but it wasn't the intention all along. His campaigns until now have been about making people aware that their single vote counts - serious, but not War In My Country serious.

@CarstenBoll@mstdn.dk @CiaraNi@mastodon.green the Monster Raving Loony Party and Screaming Lord Sutch were doing this decades ago. They basically set the prototype for this in the UK. There have been loads of parody candidates at key by-elections ever since.
