I have a #homeassistant automation that is dependent upon the system knowing the state of #tado geofencing of "home" or "away".
Using the Tado API, Home Assistant can check the state of geofencing for each TRV in the house.
In recent months Tado has restricted the free use of their API. Resulting in periods of no data.
Last night one of those periods of no data coincided with when the automation was due to run, and thus failed when it couldn't get a value for the Tado mode.
My side of the bed was cold, but more importantly my wife's side was too.
Quick option seems to be to pay Tado for "Auto-Assist" and get a higher API request limit.
But I'm wondering if anybody else is in a similar situation and has worked around the limited API calls for free users?
Are the extra features of "Auto-Assist" worth paying for?

@bigcalm why don’t you ditch tado alltogether and replace it with some other means of presence detection?

@bigcalm oh, what a surprise that a cloud API #enshittify-ed itself in order to extort money from their dependent users. Who could possibly see that from happening. *surprised pikachu face* Sonoff TRVs with ZigBee are quite OK. I run them with #zigbee2mqtt, only their offset needed adjustment. https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/TRVZB.html
