People who scolded that we need to allow more and more fascist-friendly Republican ideas in order to win do not have the same energy for actual progressives who actually win.
Movement to the right during a time of open fascism? Hey gotta have a big tent.
Movement to the left? GET OUT OF OUR TENT.

I have never ascribed to the belief that both parties are exactly the same. But I will say that centrist Democrats seem to *want* people to think that the parties are mostly the same, or at least they seem mostly interested in creating points of similarity rather than points of differentiation.
