I have never ascribed to the belief that both parties are exactly the same.
But I will say that centrist Democrats seem to *want* people to think that the parties are mostly the same, or at least they seem mostly interested in creating points of similarity rather than points of differentiation.

It’s becoming an increasingly unavoidable conclusion that a portion of mostly establishment Democrat electeds/pundits/consultants don’t like Democratic voters much and would much prefer to have Republican voters instead, and view their voters’ insistence on being represented as an annoying betrayal.
